ICYMI: 30k Extension Installs, Hottest L2s, Secret Family API Recipes

It’s been a while since our last community update. That hot onchain summer was a busy time. The Zerion team shipped lots of important releases and saw consistent growth across both the mobile wallet and the new extension wallet. In this update, we’ll tell you all about the Zerion extension, zkSync and Base integrations, the new API, and other things you might have missed.

Zerion Extension: Early Access and Invitations

Over the past few months, we continued to open up early access to the Zerion browser extension wallet.

To get access, your address needs to satisfy specific requirements: holding a qualifying NFT, interacting with a dapp, and more. If your address is whitelisted, you can import its private key into the Zerion extension. After that, you’ll be able to import or create other addresses.

That way, we onboarded thousands of people from dozens of Web3 communities. Top Zerion DNA holders, DegenScore Beacon holders, Disconauts, Squid users were among the first to try the extension.

If you haven’t done so yet, you can download the Zerion extension and paste your address to see if it’s whitelisted. Over 30k people already installed the extension.

Why bother?

Zerion browser wallet is not just another extension. It’s built from the ground up specifically for active Web3 citizens like you.

For example, you can easily revoke access to dapps — to some of them or revoke all, across all networks, in a single move.

Or you can switch networks extremely fast.

You don’t need to manually switch if you are using different networks in separate browser tabs. Zerion understands that you might mint Mirror posts on Optimism in one tab and share them on Lenster on Polygon in another.

Describing all extension’s features in a laundry list doesn’t do justice to the whole experience.

You should try it.

And if your address isn’t whitelisted yet, you can search/ask around on Twitter for invites, the NFTs that whitelist any address.

New L2s: zkSync and Base

All Zerion apps — the web app, mobile apps, and the extension — now support zkSync and Base, two of the hottest Layer-2 networks.

You can bridge and swap with Zerion, track all your assets (including DeFi positions and NFTs), review your transaction history of those chains, and more.

If you already have assets on zkSync or Base, connect that wallet to the Zerion web app, and you’ll see how your address will also look in a Zerion wallet.

Bridge Fees

As L2s become increasingly important, we rolled out a 0.5% fee for bridging with Zerion. This diversifies revenues beyond just trading and helps us build a sustainable organization.

Of course, if you hold a Zerion Premium DNA, you get a lifetime 100% discount and can bridge without any Zerion fees, just with swaps.

And you can also use any third-party bridge via the dapp browser on mobile.

Zerion API

Indexing Web3 wallet and asset data is hard.

But with Zerion API, you can build feature-rich real-time web3 apps, wallets, and protocols with ease. The API can be used for both building something new at a hackathon and scaling a major product like Rainbow Wallet or DexGuru.

To illustrate what you can do with Zerion API, we’ve made some recipes:

  • How to Build a Multichain Transaction History (Like Zerion)

  • Building a Real-time Asset Tracker with Zerion's API

  • How to build a Meta DEX aggregator – 0x, 1inch, Uniswap & more price sources

Other stuff you might have missed

There were tons of other things at Zerion. Some are now sort of old news.

But some are still relevant, like this inspiring open mint on Zora: Why Are You Still Here?

That NFT is on Optimism. Most wallets hide them far in the back corner of the basement. At Zerion, Layer-2 NFTs are treated with respect:

Last but not least, there were many updates to Zerion mobile apps on iOS and Android: security features, new networks, onramps, and more.
